We do not take insurance for health coaching. Client payment payment in full is required prior to initiating health coaching.
Cynthia is an RDN-Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator, and can take insurance in other settings when delivering medical nutrition therapy or diabetes education. In this setting of health coaching and phone work, coaching is not yet generally reimbursed by insurers, even when done by health professionals. We can provide a receipt for services and for those who want to submit their health coaching fees for reimbursement with their insurance companies.
For those who want health coaching to improve their diabetes management, know that medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and diabetes self management are medically reimbursable and are covered by insurers. What happens when I start with a health coach?
You'll have a brief discussion about the two (2) or five (5) month contract time period, about your aims for coaching, and fees. You'll set up the appointment for your initial session. Your coach will send you a questionnaire to complete and will ask that you return the completed questionnaire to the coach at least 3 days before the first coaching or session.
The initial session is often 1.25 hrs and may include reviewing your questionnaire, imagery and dialogue to clarify your desired aims for wellbeing and the results you want from coaching. Clarifying your wellness vision and some assessment during that first session is usual, setting specific goals often takes place during the next visit.
Follow up sessions are held every other week initially but may move to once a month as you progress toward your goal.
Each of the next coaching sessions includes some accountability on the weekly goals or personal experiments you set up with your coach.
